Head of Independence Movement Michel Moawad urged parties across the political spectrum to liaise in a bid to reach an agreement over the election of a new president who defends Lebanon's constitution and state institutions.
Moawad's statement followed his meeting with Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai in Bkirki.
“I agreed with the patriarch over the need to hold the presidential poll within the constitutional deadline particularly that this is the only presidential post reserved for a Christian throughout the entire region that stretches from Malaysia to Morocco,” Moawad said.
