The Independence Movement's press office said Saturday Al Akhbar newspaper twisted the facts and published out-of-context quotes that were attributed to Independence Movement leader Michel Moawad in an article that appeared in Saturday's August 23, 2014 issue.
The statement released by the Independence Movement's press office said Al Akhbar intentionally quoted Moawad out of context and fabricated facts to fit its own agenda. The statement added that several weeks before the article was published, its author Lea Azzi had contrary to journalistic ethics, conveyed to a number of politicians false statements that she attributed to Moawad.
The Independence Movement's press office also demanded Al Akhbar to publish, in line with the provisions of the press law, the above statement in response to the article published on August 23, 2014.
