The President of “The Independence Movement”, the resigned MP Michel Moawad tweeted: “The attempt to consecrate the custom of summoning journalists and media professionals to court is against the Publication Law and is definitely refused in form. Also, in content, this act is an obvious infringement of the freedom of speech when Lebanon’s destiny is ambiguous.”
He added: “I denounce these acts and I express my solidarity with the journalists Assaad Bechara and Naufal Daou. I call the Minister of Justice Marie-Claude Najem and the Head of the Higher Judicial Council to interfere to solve this violation in a final and radical way.”
