Commenting on the film director Ziad Doueiri’s case, the president of the Independence Movement Michel Moawad said that “the responsible instances should have received Ziad Doueiri, who was returning from Venice with the Best Actor prize for his film ‘The Insult’, by rolling out the red carpet for him and honouring him, not with handcuffs and detention.”
Writing on his social media pages, Moawad added:
“We will not accept that similar practices return.”
