Independence Movement leader Michel Moawad warned Sunday against attempts to dump waste collected from a number of regions across Lebanon in Mejdlaya and Fawar towns in Zgharta district.
“A number of media reports have indicated that Environment Minister Mohammad Machnouq plans to turn a number of land plots in Mejdlaya and Fawar districts into dumpsters. However, we will not allow any deal to take place at the expense of Zgharta district,” Moawad warned in a statement.
The statement added that the Independence Movement will take to the streets to prevent the disposal of waste in Zgharta district should the need arise.
