The president of the Independence Movement Michel Moawad posted on his Twitter account:
“One cannot agree on the words used by Minister Gebran Bassil towards Speaker Nabih Berri, but the chaotic reactions to them are not acceptable in any way. We had assumed that this kind of reactions were from bygone times. We call upon the official security forces to protect the citizens and enforce Law on everyone.”
