The Rene Moawad Foundation has provided free equipment to enable farmers to better collect and store milk as part of a European Union-funded project entitled “Enhancing the Dairy Sector in North Lebanon.”
The equipment was delivered at a ceremony attended by EU officials and Executive Director of the Rene Moawad Foundation Michel Moawad along with representatives of local and international organizations.
Moawad said the project fell in line with the foundation’s mission to support the “Lebanese remain steadfast on their land”-- the theme of the 25th anniversary of the RMF’s establishment.
“Our support ‘for the Lebanese to remain on their land is more than a slogan. It is a commitment to provide the Lebanese with the means that enable them to live freely and in dignity in their land,” Moawad said.
Moawad added that the RMF is equipping farmers with the necessary tools and technology to improve the quality of their products, thus enabling them to access new export markets.
“This initiative bolsters rural development and empowers farmers to remain on their land,” Moawad said.
The success of this project, Moawad added, is the result of a solid partnership between international donor organizations such as the EU, local civil society groups, namely the RMF and the Lebanese private sector.
