Independence Movement leader Michel Moawad urged Monday security forces to thwart threats against Lebanon's banking sector in the wake of the bombing that targeted BLOM bank in Beirut.
"We have warned against attempts to target Lebanon's banking sector, a cornerstone of the country's economy and stability. And what we feared most has happened as BLOM bank was targeted," Moawad tweeted.
"It is, therefore, important that our reaction to the incident go beyond condemnation. We urge security forces to carry out speedy investigations to uncover those responsible for the attack and strike terror with an iron fist," he added.
